Hoover High School Art Courtyard Project: 2005 - 2007

For this project, students measured, designed, made scaled drawings and models, estimated materials and costs, cut metal,  dug, hammered, made concrete, and installed block retaining wall. Then they learned how to design, set and grout tile on the walls.

This is the first phase of a plan that will include other student beautification projects on campus. This kind of "Project-based Learning " improves the campus,  students gain thinking skills, building skills, and a sense of pride and community.

This project was made possible with City Heights Education Collaborative, SDSU Foundation Lowe's Community Grant, Hoover High School  faculty/staff, and donations from local businesses.
